Kindra J. Ingram, DC

Dr. Kindra J. Ingram is a native of the Silver Spring area. She began formal tap dance and ballet training at the age of 3 and has never looked back. As a youth, she performed with many groups that traveled all over the Washington, DC area. Kindra learned about Tappers With Attitude after performing with a tap dance residency given by Savion Glover, a group that he had hand selected. She became a member of TWA in 1992. During this time, Kindra continued to work on improving her skills and at the age of 15, she became an instructor at Knock on Wood, where she continued to teach off and on, as time has permitted. Kindra has taught all age groups and has influenced many students from Knock On Wood and other studios to join TWA.

After graduating from Springbrook High School, Kindra attended Spelman College in Atlanta, majoring in biology. She performed with the Spelman College Theater Department, appearing in solos for various performances. In addition, she taught informal tap dance classes to students. After leaving Spelman, she stayed on in Atlanta to attend Chiropractic School. She graduated cum laude as a Doctor of Chiropractic, then returned to home to open her own chiropractic practice from the ground up in downtown Silver Spring. Kindra is in her 4th year of private practice at Align Spine Health Center, and enjoying every minute! While growing her practice, she has continued to teach at Knock On Wood.

Tap dance has enriched Kindra’s life in so many ways. She has built lifelong relationships with members of TWA, and also learned about team building. She is now giving back to the studio by offering a new scholarship: Kindra J. Ingram, DC Tap Enrichment Scholarship. This year-long award is to help encourage students to learn more, as well as grow in the art of tap dance. The scholarship will be given to a student who demonstrates great improvement.
